ROSPA PRESIDENTS AWARD 2017
D Wardle (Plant) Ltd celebrates success in the RoSPA Awards 2017
National earthmoving contractor D Wardle (Plant) Ltd, based in Warrington, achieved the RoSPA President’s Award for Occupational Safety in the prestigious annual scheme run by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).
The RoSPA Awards scheme is now in its 61st year. The scheme judges consider entrants’ overarching occupational health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement. In reviewing D Wardle Plant’s submission, the assessors in their summary noted the impressive and innovative approach to the Health and Safety for company of its size.
Tom McDonald, D Wardle’s Plant and QSHE Manager, said “this 13th RoSPA award is again recognition of the effort and commitment of our employees to keep our work safe and reduce accidents. We’re committed to the RoSPA Award process because it drives improvement in all areas of the business, and means each time the annual submission is put forward for judging we take the time to reconsider what’s working for the business and what needs improving further. The RoSPA Awards scheme have played a big part in the success and growth of our business and safety record we’ve achieved. We’re only two years from achieving the RoSPA Order of Distinction, which would place us amongst the elite of around only 120 companies, so there is no room for complacency.
Julia Small, RoSPA’s head of awards and events, said: “The RoSPA Awards are the most prestigious in the world of occupational health and safety, and held in high regard around the world, as winning one demonstrates an organisation’s commitment to maintaining an excellent health and safety record. Achieving the standard required is no mean feat.
“This is a special year in the history of RoSPA, and we congratulate all of our winners in this, our centenary year”.
